A. AND P. COMMITTEE.
SUGGESTED NEW 'MeTHOD OF ELECTION. A new method of electing the General Committee of the Mas'erfon A. and P. Association was brought before the meeting of the General Committee on Saturday last, by Mr J. C. McKillop. This gentleman said he considered it would be a good policy, and a step in the right direction, to retain a number of the oid members each year on the Committee, as they would thus be in a position to supply information on any subject that had previously come before the Cnminit-t-:e tn young members. Ho moved that one-third of the General Committee retire annually, being, of course eligible for re-election i? they so desired. Mr Strang seconded the motion pro forma, stating that the method suggested by Mr McKillop was toe one in vogue in connection with the Wairarapa P. and A. Society. Mr McGregor opposed the motion, principally, he said, because the difficulty in the past had been to get new blood on the Committee. At an election the old members of the Committee generally did not have much trouble in securing their return, and he considered it abso lutely essential for the well-being of the Association that as many young members as possible should be on the Committee. Mr W. Perry also opposed the motion. The Chairman, Mr G. C. Summerell, stated that even if the resolution were carried it could not be brought into effect this year. The idea did not seem to find much favour with members, and after some further discuss.on Mr McKillop withdrew his motion and the matter dropped.
