Own Correspondent. Friday. The annual meeliDg of ths Waira rapa Licensing Committee was held to-day, Mr C. C. Graham, S.M., presiding, The report tf the Health Department cn all the hotels weresatisfactory and good, and in most cases the police reports were equally as good. Ranewals were granted to each applicant, and'a transfer and new license granted to W. Redmond. Club Hotel, Carterton, from Mrs M. Tucker. At the close of the business the chairman expressed the Bench's pleasure at receiving such satisfactory reports from all the hotels in the district, and hoped that next year all the hotels which tfcsis year had good reports, would have very,,good reports. The funeral of.the late Harold Kitchen taok place on Friday at the Clarjeville Cemetery, the interment being private. The casket was cover ed with numerous wreaths from sympathetic rriend '. A beautiful one was pen.t from the deceased's fellow em - | ployees of John en ar.d Co., WeUing- j ton, One from the firm itself, and another from all the captains of the vessels connected with the compsny, in whose service the yonn? fellow b : d been shipping clerk. Another came aM the way from Wanganui. The bereaved family have the sympathy of at large circle friends. A Very snccesyf il sho >t was, held is Thursday afternoon by tha memr bers of the local Gun Club for a trophy presented by the president, Mr J. Oates. The shooting was t ood, and Messrs J. G. Oates, .12 yds, End J. Laurenson, 15yds, tied for first place, with 19 kills each, Mi' Oates winning the shoot off. H. Jenssn and R. Read with 16 kills each also shot well. A aweepstake was held BUb'ssquentiv, and won by J. Laurenaon with K. Reid second.
