GREAT SUCCESS AT NEW PLYMOUTH. By Telegraph —Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, June S. ThG first Tnranaki Winter Show opened to night, under the "auspices ot' the Taranaki Agricultural Society. Despite the ftict that the season was unfavourable for root crops, there is an excellent displny of these, rivalliner in quality the be%t shown at other exhibitions. There 13 also a bio; collection of milking machine plant'. A vpry strong feature is the work of the Technical Schools, and the dairy produca sections are also Rtrons?. These were judged by Mr Cuddie, the dairy expert, and Messrs Johnston and Wright, Government graders. The best box of export butter was shown by the Pihama Dairy Company, \vf:h the Ruvpvlhorpe Dairy Company second, and Taihape Dairy Company third. The Novice Class for export butter was won by Pihama, with Bunnytlnrpe second, and Kapanea third. In factory-made cheese, Kaponga trok first prize, Ngaere second, and Warea third. Great interest is centred in the splendid exhibit of a miniature r?finery. and the re-s-ilti of refining oil from the Taranaki Petroleum Company's bores. The Company has been asked to show this exhibit at the Palmerston and Flawera forthcoming Shows.
