RACING. NEW ZEALAND CUP ENTRIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. CEIRISTCHORCB, June 7. The Canterbury Jockey Ciub issued a notice this morning to the effect that "on account of telegraph interruptions," the clusiug of New Zealand Cup entries has been postponed till Friday.

TUFF NOTES. By "Zetland." With the publication of nominations for the New Zealand Cup Friday, interest will be evinced in the big event of the year. As usual the best horses in the Dominion have been entered, a.id their performances between now and November will be decidedly interesting to hosts of their respective admirers. Although Wimmera won the Great Northern Hurdles with ease, his jumping was not of a high-class order, for he hit practically every hurdle, and knocked [one flat to the ground. Thejright-handed course may t>ave been the cause of his slovenly jumping, and the Merriwee gelding will be a strong favourite for events in the near future. Paisano is being talked of as a very likely Grand National candidate. His preparation has been interfered with through the horse being attacked with influenza, but he is again in work. Full Cry, who met with an accident at Napier Park* about three weeks ago, is again galloping well on the tracks. He is reporteS to be a very bold jumper, and still retains most of his pace. T. Ross, at Tauherenikau, has ju&t taken in hand a mare by LetheLady Gertrude, and therefore a full sister to Lissa. The Saracen gelding, Purakau, is being wintered at Tauherenikau. His ower dees not intend putting him into work for some time yet. The Auckland Steeplechase meeting will be concluded to-day, and good fields will bs seen oiu in av-ry event. The Trentham trained Advantage and Magneto, which have t:ad no luck at the meeting, will again be among the contestants.
