A deputation representing the Anglican body, and headed by Arehbi ihop Clarke, to-day waited on Mr Fisher, the Commonwealth Prime Minister, respecting the question of unemployment, Several speakers urged compulsory insurance, the employed to contribute a third. Mr Fisher, in reply, said compulsory insurance was a big stsp. Every worker, if he worked only a portion of his time, should for that time receive a living wage. Economically that wao what he wanted to see carried into effect. Economically, also, there was no difficulty in the whole matter. The people were there, and wealth was there. The solution was a legislative difficulty, hut the prob lem would be tackled cheerfully. He very much doubted whether the deputation's proposal would solve the difficulty. The solution would not be difficult financially. The'Governrrent would provide work, and |aiu not desire to act vindictively to any part of the community, but their own people had their first claim.
