HOCKEY.
MATCHES IN MASIERTON. The hockey matches at Lan?downe were well patronised yesturday. Three from Wellington played local teams. In each instance the home team proved superior. Results:—Knox (Masterton) v. Metropolitan (Wellington), played at Masterton and won by 2 goals to nil. In the first half both sides had shots at goal, but they were unsuccessful, and half time sounded without any Bcore being registered. In the second half J. Rue found the Metropolitan goal twice in succession. Mr Carley was referee. Petone (Wellington) v. St. Matthew's (Masterton)— Played at Mastartan and won by St. Matthew's by 9 goals to nil. At half time the score stood—St. Matthew's 6, Petone nil. The Petone goal-keeper, however, was much safer in the second spell, and' saved the score getting considerably higher. B. Morris 3, Hatch 2, and Berry, Boyd, Flaws and Harding one each, scored for St. Matthew's. Mr S. Hunter was referee. St. Mark's ( Wellington) v. Huia (Masterton)— Played at . Maaterton and won fay Huia by four goals to two. The ladies' match, Huia v. St. Mark's, dtew the majority of spectators to Lausdowne yesterday. Misses K. O'Leary, J. Miller, E. Bannister, and E. Briden scored for Huia, and Miss Madeley for St. Mark's, the other St. Mark's goal going off a Huia stick. Mr Iveson refereed.
MATCHES AT CARTERTON. SENIOR. CARTERTON v. WELLINGTON. Played at Carterton, and won by Carterton by 7 goal 3to nil. W. Fisher 3, E. Tuonicliffe 2, F. Fairbrother and Reid scored for Carterton. JUNIOR. CARTttRTON v. WELLINGTON. Played at Carterton and won by Carterton by 5 goals to 2. Gayfer 2, Lawrence 2, and Dudaon scored ior Carterton.
