MISSING MONEY.
POSTAL OFFICIAL ARRESTED. By Telegraph—Fress Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2 Detectives Kennedy and McLeod to-day arrested Allan F. .Young, recently employed at the Post an 3 Telegraph Office, on two charges of thefts of monies belonging to the Dapartment: It. if understood that tae charges'refer to an amount alleged to have been received by Young, who was employed at the receiving counter in the Telegraph Office. This afternoon, before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., Young appeared on two charges, the first of beitig that he did on May 19th steal the sum of £3 6s 9d in money, the property of the New Zealand Government; and that on May 21st,. he did steal a further sum of £3 16s lid, also the property of the Government. Chief Detective Bishop appeared for the police. Tha accused applied for a remand until the following morning, as he stated he wanted to obtain the services of a solicitor. The application was granted, and Young was remanded until to-morrow. Bail was allowed, the accused in £SO, and one surety of £SO.
