SPORTING.
KACTTJ&. TUFF NOTES. (By "Zetland.") The acceptances received for the South Wairarapa Trotting % Meeting constitute a record as regards the ercentage of contestants entered. Among those accepted for are a nurdber of class performers, so there should be some exciting contests on Friday next. With acceptances to the number of 88 for the first day's event?, the Otaki Racing Club should have a succtssiul meeting. Class is well represented in the two principal events,~the Raukawa Gup and Kangiuru Handicap. In the first-named Sir Tristram, Bst 131b, who won the race last year, should run well, and should California be ready those in attendance will tee a racehoise of the first grade. The iunning of Ulerriora, winner of the Coanoliy handicap, will also be interesting. The Rangiuru Handicap will bring cut several very fine sprinters, and it depends considerably on the state of the course as to the final issue. Should the going be soft, St. Bill, Sir Frisco, and Aboriginal will be quite at home, but otherwise they will find h-uch as Hermia, Gipsy Belle, Faruls, Lace Collar, and Aiwmell speedy enough to make a big rb-ce of it. The hack events have filled well, and the finishes should bi well fought out. !
