A terrible tragedy occuned tiva.-ay, at the Sir Walter Scott Hotel, In the heart of the city. Mrs Dear, i barmaid, was seen to suddenly downstairs, with blood gushing .from a gaping wound in her throit. Sixe was being chased at the momeS -by a man named Punks, whose throat was also cut. Punks, however, vollapsed, and died at the hospital later on. The condition of Mrs Deans is very serious. The couple had been living together as man and wife. Mrs Dean claims to be a native of Westport, New Zealand, separated from her husband. > It is stated that Punks cut her throat, and then cut his owu, jealousy being the cause.
