A NEW AIRSHIP.
An airship has been modelled at Wellington by Mr M. Juri3S. who is qualifitd by birth to compete fur the £5,000 prize offered by the Federal Government It is based on the principle of the paper dart familiar to everybody from school days. There are four of these V-shaped aeroplanes in the model. One is used for steering in front, one is used on each aide, and superimposed on the rest in the centre lines of the framework is a fourth "dart" plane, larger than the others. Right aft is a main plane, bent at its rear end into tbe form of an arc. The framework is based on riangles, and braced by i umerous cords. The whoie model stands about 2ft, Gin high irom its Vshaped tricarriage. Wo propeller was in an experiment marie recently morning, the aeroplane being pushed off into mid-air from a stepladder. The spectators waited with a sheet to catch it below. It fell short, and tipping over the edge of the sheet, damaged one of the wings. The experiment was not continued.
