WAIHUAI VALLEY NOTES.
From a Correspondent. HAUNUI, May 27. A rutnber of old friends of Mr and Mrs Murray met at their residence, Te Maunga 'whare, on Saturday last, and cave them a surprise party, which whs much appreciated. Mr and lla Murray have just lecovered from a serious illness. The roads were in «ood order, and the party took advantsro of a glotioua moonlight right. The evening was a most enjoyable one, arid leminded one of the sood old days v,hsrc many a pleasant evening has loca spent. _ Mithiight came far too quickly. The time was spent in social chat, music nnd huicorous recitations. A.very acceptable original recitation v?as given by one of the party. Tbera v;cre r.lso several dances. Mr J. Morris, of "The Ranch," in a suitable speech, wished Mr and Mrs Murray and family pood health and prosperity in the future, ai 1 Mr Murray feelingly responded. Dainty refreshments ™ere handed round, and after Hinging "Auld Lang Syne" and "For they are Jolly Good Fellows,"' the party dispersed to their homes.
