MINISTERIAL V. COMMISSIONER'S CONTROL.
HON. MR MILLAR AND THE RAILWAYS. '. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 30. At a social to the Hon. Mr Millar by his constituents to-night, the Minister compared the result of the Government's Railway management with that of Comissioners, who, he said, charged higher freights and paid lowejr wage 3. Ho did not believe the railways should bs used as a Jteeder for the Consolidated Fund, and did not see why the Consolidated Fund should be charged one penny for the railways. If New Zealand accepted the same rates and paid the same wages as Australia te would guurantee the railways to pay 7J per c&nt, as against 4£ per cent.
