POISONER TO DIE.
VERDICT OF COURT-MARTIAL. Received May 30, 9.10 a.m. VIENNA, May 29. A secret court-martial has found Lieut. Hofrichter guilty of attempting to poison officers of the Austrian General Staff, and he has been sentenced to be hanged. "MORALLY ABNORMAL." Received May 30, 11.30 p.m. BERLIN, May 36. Hofrichter was not -allowed to attend his trial. The evidence of 2,000 witnesses was read at the court-mar-tial. It is believed that there will be a recommendation for commutation to imprisonment for life, as doctors describle Hofrichter morally abnormal. (Hofrichter confessed to having attempted to poison ten officers of the Austrian General Staff, the motive of the crime being a desire to create vacancies so that he might become a ■staff-officer, thus improving the position of his wifs.)
