LORD PLUNKET ON LORD ISLINGTON.

"A VERY THOUGHTFUL MAN.", In tha course of his reply, when presented with the Dunedin citizens' address, Lord Plunket made the following reference to the new Governor, Lord Islington:—"l hope when I go to Australia to be able to give my successor,'vchorn I expect to meet there, eome idea of the good time—and interesting time, and impressive time—he is going to have in this country. I think you in the town of Duni'din and its municipality will have much to be proud of—that you will have.a Governor, that you will have a mar, who, apart from his position as Governor, will appeal to you, because Lord Islington has taken a particular interest in municipal enterprise and municipal wellbeing. Lord Islington is a very thorough man. He ia a man when he ta'ses up a thing carries 11 through, and one of the things he has taken the deepest interest in—though I have done so, too, to a certain ex tent, but not as much as he—is municipal work. He has done an enormous amount of good in England, especially in London, in connection with the genera! welfare of the working classes. He has helped enormously in connection with the ereclion cf model dwellings for the working man, and although you don't require them here r.eaily as badly as in the Old Counr.ry, I am sure you will agree that you require a great many more here than you have at the present time,"
