MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

MASTERTON--FRIDAY. (Before Mr C. C. Graham, S. M ) DELIVERING LIQUOR, Roy Geary was charged that he did deliver, at the bookstall at the Masterton Railway Station, in the No-License area, a package containing liquor, such package not having distinctly written or printed on it that it contained liquor. Mr Pownall appeared for accused and entoreJ a plea of guilty. Sergeant Miller stated that accused wa3 selling newspapers on the train, ani from information received he question:d him as to a package accused wa? carrying. Accused denied that it contained iiquar, but on examina • tion it was found to contain four bottles o£ whisky. Jasper Dew, giving evidance, said th?t acc .sed was going away for a holiday, and ha (witness) gave hmi £1 to get some whisky as the train was moving out. Witnsrs only intended defendant to bring one bottle, but the train moved off before he ha i tune lo tell hi n. His Worship i:nj.o3ad a fine of 40s and costs. A TECHNICAL fcRjSACH. Edward Alfred Baker was charged with receiving an order for liquor within the Nu-License area of Masterton. Accused, who was represented by Mr G. H. Cuilen, peaded guilty to a technical breach of the Act. Counsel stated that his client had obliged by enclosing the order in an envelope he was sending to Wellington. A tine of £5 and costs was imposed.
