WANGANUI NOTES.

By Telegraph—Press Association. WANGANUI, May 22. Daniel Bayly, a veiy old resident of Taranaki and Wan?anui, died suddenly to-day, as the result of apoplexy. The deceased, who was 75 years of age, came to New Zealand when about five years of age, his family residing in Taranaki. He has been a settler in Wanganui and district for over thirty years. The Governor is paying a farewell visit no Wanganui. He arrived by special train yesterday afternoon, and in the evening a well-attended public meeting was held, when his Excellency was presented with a gold fountain psn to commemorate the part he has played in signing various proclamations and deeds connected with Wanganui Municipal history. To-day the Governor was taken for a motor trip. He leaves in the morning.
