[ TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB'S RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 21. The Takapuna Jockey Club's Winter Meeting opened this afternoon in fine weather, and there was a large attendance. The results are as follows: Handicap Maiden Plate, 100 sovs, seven furlongs.—Soultoria 8.0, 1; Electrakoff 9.0. 2;P3ying 50u1t7.2, 3. Won by a bead. Flying Soult was a length away third. Time, lmin 33 2-5 sec, First Pony Handicap, 100 sovs, five furlongs and a half.—Peggie Pryde 7.7, 1; Miss Stella 7.10. 2; Leafire 6.12, 3. Won easily. Miss Stella just beat Leafire for second honours. Time 1 min 13 l-3sec.
Empire handicap. 250 sovs, one mile and a quarter.—Sea Elf 7.9, 1; Uranium 8.3, 2; Sir Artegal 8.3, 3. At the distance Uranjum had Sir Artegal settled, but failed to stall off a strong challenge by Sea Elf, wbo finished strongly and won comfortably by three lengths. Time, 2 min 16sec.
Handicap Maiden Hurdles, 100 so*?, one mile and a half a;>d ICO yards.—King HppO 9.0, 1; Matarere 9.0. 2; Spectre 9.0, 3. .Time 3min 6sec.
Hauraki Hurdles, 200 sovs, two raiiea Tui Caitabou y.lO, 1; Armagh 9.4, 2; Commander 9.6, 3. Tui Kakabou and Armagh fought out a desperate finish, the former getting the verdict by a Head. Time 3min 57sec.
Royal Handicap, 125 govs, seven furlongs.—Lady Frances 6.13, 1; Dogger Bank 7.2; Impulsive 7.9, 3. Won by a length. Time lmin 32 3 ssec.
Ngatarina Handicap, 100 soys, five furlongs, and a half.—Flying Soult 8 0, 1; Marone and Black 2; Captain Souk 7.13. 3. Won by two lengths. Time lmin 14sec.
