SHOT THROUGH THE HEART.
TRAGEDY AT CHRISTCHURCfI

Mr F. Nicholl, assistant accountant in the l2gai office of Metssrs Duncan, Cotterill and Stringer, was found in a bedroom at his home about 11 30 o'clock this morning, shot through the heart. A pea rifle was found near the body, the position of which appeared to indicate that Nicholl had held the rifle to his heart and operated the trigger with one of his toes.
A medical man was called, but he'could only pronounce life extinct.
For some months past Nicholl had been suffering from insomnia, and towards the end of last year, owing to illnesa, due to the same cause, he was off duty for a month. Recently he was further troubled with sleeplessness, and it is stated that he was unable to sleep for the last ten or fourteen days.
At the inquest a verdict was returned that the deceased committed suicide whilst tempoiarily insane.
