MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Council was held on Saturday, the 30th April. Present-Messrs F. W. H. Kuwmer (chairman), C. Fors- < berg. J. B. Perry, O. Isakson. C. -Churchill Jackson, and] H. J. Dagg. Correspondence was received and dealt with from the Acting-secretary of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, requesting to be informed whether the Council will undertake the administration of Charitable Aid in the district under its control.. From same, desiring estimate of sum required to meet charitable aid in this district for the yea* ending 31at March, 1911, also particulars of expenditure during year ended 31st March, 1910. From same, referring J. Farmer's case to the Council for consideration. From County Clerk, Eketahuna, notifying termination of agreemsnt re division of license fees. From Under Secretary for Public Works, notifying that a grant of £250 was available frr Mangaoronga Road. The grant will be expended in metalling, employing the Council's own horses and carts on the work, provided metal can conveniently be got. It was decided that the chairman and Crs Dagg and Isakson visit the road and see whether metal can be got. Various notices of transfers of properties were received. Messrs Parker and Co. forwarded an application for waggon license. A refund of the amount expended in charitable aid in the district to March 31st was received from the Wellington Charitable Aid Board. A circular letter was received from the Westland County Council, desiring support for a resolution requesting the Government to amend the procedure for the compilation of * the County electoral rolls, so that the name, occupation, address, and qualification of every elector shall be fully set forth, and it was decided to leave j consideration of this matter till next meeting. It was resolved to inform the Charitable Aid Board that the Council is willing to continue to dispense charitable aid in this district as formerly. Accounts amounting to £llß 7s lid were passed for payment.
