DR. HENRY'S MISSION.
Yesterday's first meetiner in connection with the above mission was held in the Methodist Young Men's Class ■Room at 11 o'clock when Dr Henry met in conference leaders of Christian work. The Rev. C. E. Porer presided over a gathering representative of every class of Christian work, there being present ministers of every denomination. Salvation Aray officers' Bible Class leaders, Sabbath school superintendents, and laymen. The Doctor,, basing his remarks on an Old Testament passage, delivered a most helpful and inspiring address and at its conclusion answered a number of. questions which were put to him, relative to the work of those present.'Altogether the meeting was one of the most practically helpful of the campaign as far as it has gone. Another similar conference will be held at 11 o'clock this mroning.
The first of the "Quiet Hour" meetings, held yesterday afternoon, in Knox Church, was a most successful function. The attendance was exceptional for an afternoon meeting in a town the size of Masterton. Mr Potts conducted the singing, Mrs Potts presiding very ably at Knox's fine pipe organ. Dr Henry spoke on the topic. "The Spirit-filled life," and delivered an able address, which should prove a great spiritual uplift to all who heard it. The address at this afternoon's meeting will be a continuation of the same subject.
The Town Hall was airain packed for the evening meeting, which, as usual, took the form of an evangelistic service. The singing of the choir, and the' solos of Mr Potta, were most effective. Mrs Potts presided at the pians in her usual efficient manner. Dr Henry took for his text Mark x:s2—The story of the healing of Blind Bartimaens, and delivered a powerful and telling sermon. The response to the Doctor's appeal, which was made at the sermon's close, proved how deeply the audie'ce had been impressed, no less than forty-five persons making public confession of Jesus Christ. To-morrow evening the Doctor will speaTc on the suDjecl, "God's Blockade for a Lost World."
