The police are investigating an attempt to poison Madame Marguerite Carre, the leading soprano at the Paris Opera Comique, with currosie sublima'.te placed in port wine. Two of Madame Carre's guests are seriously ill. Madame Carre also received a parcel of butter adulterated With oxide zinc ten days earlier. The attempts are attiibuttd to professional jealousy
