A Glee Club is being formed in Carterton.and it in anticipated that a very strong combination will be got together Some good talent is here, and only requires getting together. Mr and Mis C. L. N. Petersen, wellknown in musical circles, have thi matter in hand.
There is a scarcity of eggs in Carterton at the present rime,, and the high prices ruling make them an expensive item to householders.
Bro. P. Ashton, A.D.', presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Druids Lodge, last evening, when three sister lodges forwarded contributions towards a fund being established to asist a sick brother. Printed reports of the annuai meeting of the Grand Lodge were received and discussed. An invitation was accepted from Stonehengc Lodge, Masterton, ;to j play a card tournament on Thursday evening next. One new member was initiated, and three proposed for membership. It was decided to withdraw the nomination of the second team from the seven a-side football tourney being held at Masterton next Batuiday. Receipa for the meeting were £9 17j 3d, and disbur32ments £l4 Is.
A large Masonic gathering was held here last evening, visitors beii present from all parts of the Wairarapa anl Wellington. The occasion was the installation of Bro. T. J. Rathbone as W.M. of St. Mark's Lodge. The installing master was R. W. Brc. Fletcher, D.G.M., W. Bro. Baillie was Master of Cero emonies, and Bro. A. W." Russell Trumpeter. The following officer< were invested :—T.P.M., W. Bro. a. Pmllpotls; S.W., Bro. H. Hughes; J.W., Bro. A. N. Burns; Treasurer, W. Bro. A. Ramsay, F.M.; Secretary, W. Bro. J. Baillie. P.M.; S.D., Bro. M. D. MacGoun; J.D., Bro A. J. Reynolds; Organist, Bro. John Brown; 1.G., Bro. W. C. Dorsett; Tyler, Bro. J. Stevens. After the business a banquet was held, when the usual Masonic toasts were honoured.
Dr. Henry, the evangelist, is to give a ont-hour's mission in the Victoria Hall, on Thunday afternoon, con.mencitig at two o'clock. Mr and Mrs Potts will take part in the mission. Following is the local Druids' team to take part in the seven a-side"foot-ball ruurnament at Masterton, on Saturday:—Forwards, A. Cadwallader, J. Blake, H. McKenzie; backs, E. Mason, McKerzie (2) and F Groube.
