AUCKLAND'S GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
PBIME MINISTER'S ATTITUDE,
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 2.
Sir Joseph Ward, replying to a telegram [from the Citizens' League rotesting against the removal of Government House furniture, says : "The giving up of the piesent site for university purposes is dependent entirely upon assent by Parliament. In the event of the site being used for a university allowance must be made for rental purposes for the new Governor in Auckland. The house is not being dismantled. In the event of Parliament not agreeing to establish a university on the Government House site, the house there will be refurnished for the use ot the new Governor. The intention of the Government was to expend about £IOO,000 for university purposes, and on such extension as the growth of the province may require."
