EXPLOSION ON A LAUNCH.

PASSENGER SEVERELY BURNED. A NARRuW ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association 'IHAMES, April 29.

An explosion occurre.l here to-day on one of the laurches running from the Thames to certain Hauraki land which i 3 being opened up for settlemnt. One of the occupants of the launch, named Brennan, was severely burned about the face, head and hands, although the injuries are not dangerous. The explosion was followed by an outbreak of fire, and the launch was charred and damaged a good deal, chiefly in the cabin The hull, however, was practically untouched. The cause of the explosion is a mystery, but the general opinion is that the occupants had a lucky escape from severe injury, perhaps death.
