TINUI NOTES.

(Own Correspondent). TINUI, April 27.

A meet of the Wairarapa Hunt Club was held on the 23rd irist., at Blairlogie Station. There was a keen wind blowing, which made the day an ideal one for hunting, and as the hounds were under complete control by Huntsman Bunny, a most pleasant run was enjoyed.

The attendance of onlookers was the largest seen here for several years; whether it is the presence of Halley's comet, or the long-looked for reform in the House of Lords that is about to eventuate, that made the people turn out, it is impossible to say. However, the crowd seemed to enjoy the sport to a full degree, as one rider'after another toppled over, and were to be seen running after their horses, minus a hat. The greatest amusement of the run was when three Liorses fell in a heap together. The well-known hunter Forest King appeared to either be ashamed of himself or bis : rider, and as soon as he could regain his feet, the old warrior took after the hounds, and after clearing a few fences stopped, rose his head and tail, snorted wildly, and made across the Whareama river, on to lea and was not caught till Sunday morning. All the huntsmen speak in high praise of the cover selected by Mr Rupert Morrison. The ladies kindly supplied afternoon tea, for which they were heartily thanked. The following took part in the run:—Messrs C. F. Vallance, patron, on Rata; S. Bunny, huntsman, on Merry Girl; B. Reardon, hon. whip, on Rirau; E. Collerton on Weary Bill; T. M'Cann, on Sam; A. Schofield, on All Black; R. Morrison, on Grey Dawn and Jess: Tas. Smith, on Regret and Nedra; J. Dudson, on Konini; Hill, on Moonilght; J. Floyd, on Prospector; Ken, Baird, on Featherston; B. Vallance, on Gleam of Dawn; E. Heaps, on Forest King; J. Munro, on Bones; W. Derrington, on Polar Star; D. Hill, onAohanga.
