A marine enquiry regarding the wreck of the schooner Malek»",la. 130 tons, wrecked ivcenty at Bampton Reef, in the Chestei field Group. ha 3 been opened. The captain attributed the strardinsr of the vessel to the ship's chronometer bt-inc innccuratp," and also to bad steering by the native crew. The Marine Board decided t > place on record its recognition of the splendid behaviour of the captain in bringing the Malekula's boat across from Bampton Island to Lucinda Point, a {jreilcus journey of seven hundred miles.
