FALLING BAROMETER EVERYWHERE. MR BATES' FORECAST. By Telegraph —Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 18. The Rev. D. C. Bates this evening supplied the following summary and forecast regarding the weather: The storm which passed eastward of i the South Island on Sunday morning j was accompanied by very severe wes- J terly weather, and the lowest barometric pressure (28.62) recorded since February, 1887, and was only lower three times previously since 1867. Present indication are for a falling barometer everywhere, winds changing to northerly and freshening, especially in the extreme North and South, where unsettled weather is probable soon.
