SEED AND GRAIN CLEANING MACHINERY.

Messrs Chatnberiain and Son have decided to tut in a plant for cleaning aJI kinds of grain and grass seed. This is a thing that the farming community and grain ar.d seed merchants have long felt the need of, and they will no doubt * view with pleasure and satisfaction the step that this firm is taking in placing at their disposal an efficient and up-to-date cleaning plant At present seed or grain has to be sent away, by rail at some expense and loss of time to be cleaned. Rather than go to this trouble and expense, in most cases the farmer hss had io be satisfied with "fair" samples of seed. 'lhen seed that has not been sujected to a thorough cleaning may have impurities in it, such as tares, Californian thistle, etc., and the farmer runs a risk of getting' his farm infested with these weeds. in about six weeks' time Messrs Chamberlain and Son hope to have their plant erected at their mill in Albert street, and available for use. In addition to, and working in conjunction with, the cleaning machinery will be a set of patent cellular cylinders. These cylinders do most reliable work, and make separations of tares and similar weeds from oats, wheat and barley, and will also separate wheat from oats.
