MASTERTON HOMING PIGEON CLUB.

The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew its "Oaks" race from Kaikoura North, an airline distance of ninety miles. The birds were liberated, in unpromising weather, and as they drew nearer h"me thry encountered a thunderstorm, which caused the birds to travel at a slow velocity. Mr Butcher acted a3 judge, an d gave the following result:— Mr J. Dixon's "Nil Desperandum," time 3hrs 2min 1 Mr W. N Drake's "Little Gem," time 3hrs 9min 24sec 2 Mr Bradbury's "Doreen," time 3hra 9min 44sec 3 Out of ten lofts which competed H. Lett and W. Hoar were the only other members to clock in.

On Saturday next the Club are holding an interval race from Wellington, and Mr Elliott, a flyer of that town, has kindly consented to liberate the birds at ten minutes' interval, commencing at 10.30. The birds will be liberated in the following order:—lst, J. Bradbury; 2nd, J. Syverston; 3rd, A. Miller; 4tb, H. Billingtoni sth, W. Hoar,; 6th, H. Lett; 7th, F. Kosson; Bth, W. Drake; 9th, J. Dixon; 10th, H. Wilton; 11th, E. Flanagan; 12th, W. Dowling; 13tb, A. Ward; 14th, J.Winchester.
