The swimming carnival J had also been a great success, and | about £6O worth of trophies were I competed for. There were rumburs of; .. Australian swimmers coming to New Zealand during the coming season, and the Masterton Club were now in communication with the Wellington Centre in connection with this matter, and in all probability the Australian swimmers would visit Masterton. Mr Pryor said he hoped Masterton would send a team away during the next season to compete in various events at swimming sports. He emphasised the great value-of training if the members wished to annex outside events. Mr Pryor-also referred to the loss the club had sustained during tne past season, through their captain, Mr R. Hosking, leaving the town, paid a high tribute of praise to the ladies for the kind manner in which they had assisted the Club. ! Mr D. Caselberg, Patron of the I Club, expressed pleasure" at Deing present to present the trophies. He was pleased to see that one of their members had won prizes in other centres, and the, trophies - won by the ! swimmer referred to, Mr F. Phillips, had.been forwarded from Woodville, for presentation' that evening. The supper arrangements were carried out in a very creditable manner by Messrs J. C. J, Alpass and Co., and good da"ce music was supplied by Messrs Reihana Boyes, violin, H. Inns, piano, and G, Gray, cornet. The position of M.C.'s was capably filled by Messrs G. Cullen, A. D. Gillie?, B. Clayson ana J. Georgeson. The secretary, Mr J. A. McEwen, is deserving of a word of praise for the suecesful manner in he carried out his arduous duties. ,
