PAHIATUA NEWS.
(Own Correspondent). Monday. The annual general meeting ol the Bush Districts Rugby Union was held at Hamua on Saturday night. The President, Mr M. Vance, was in the chair. The secretary having left the district, Mr W. White Scott was elected pro tem.
The secretary submitted the fol | lowing report: —To the President, j officers and delegates of the Bush j Districts Rugby Union.-—Sirs,—ln j submitting ray report and balance , sheet to you I must thank the mem- j bers for the courteous manner in j which I have been treated during the past season. The arrangement of. holding meetings where most convenient proved very satisfatory. The financial position ot the Union is better than it was last year, but this is owirg to the grant received from the N.Z.R.U. *ihe only monies received during the season were subscriptions ftom clubs £is jss, net balance from two representative matches £7 2s 5d and proceeds from the annual ball £4 Bd. The two representative matches played at Pahiatua, tLe gross -receipts total £26 lis, the Poverty Bay representatives taking 50 per cent. <-i i->- n likings of their gate, amounting to £5 16s, the balance going in expenses for entertaining, etc. The Union has a fair asset if they visit Poverty Bay at any time in claiming 50 per cent, of the gate in our match with them. The Nireaha delegates, Messrs Pryde, Thompson, Robinson and Ryan, are to be congratulated on the way they carried out the ball arrangements, and it is mainly to their efforts that it was such a success. I have always viewed with regret that the Union did not make application to the N.Z.R.U. fur a loan when the money was available from the. All Black tour,* to buy grounds in each of the centres. These grounds would have been a valuable asset from gate takings,*fetc." The represenjtative team traveiledjto Makuri during the season, and £ the trip cost £6 18s. Three representative matches j'„ were:' played during the season, our team winning two and losing one. I would suggest when finance will admit the next jHour of representatives be made as far as Gisborne,£playing other Unions_on the line. Matches owing to us from other Unions are Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Horowhenua, and Golden Bay. The Wellington B team was played, but no promise of a return Aiatch was received. I would suggest to the Management Committee to arrange a tournament during the season to aid finance. | The Nireaha Club are to be congratulated ori winning both the senior and junior competition this year, Konini being runners up in the senior and Eketahuna in the junior. There is one thing this Union must do, that is, to see the juniors have attention. Again, I wish to t;hank you, gentlemen, for the kindnesses received during my term of office.—FßED 'MORRIS, Secretary and Treasurer B.D.R.U. The balance sheet was submitted, and showed a credit balance of £53 10s 4d. The following officers were elected for the year 1910-11 —President, Mr M. Vance; Vice-Presidents, Messrs D. Kelly, F.
