FLOODS AT THE THAMES.

By Telegraph—Press Association. THAMES, April 1. The Thames has been isolated for two days. The gale and floods caused the rivers to overflow, with the result that there are several washouts on x the railway. Traffic between the Thames and Paeroa is suspended, but it is expected to be resumed tomorrow. It is believed that some properties below Paeroa have sustained consider able damage. Some narrow escapes are reported. One settler, whose horses and trap were swept away had a hard struggle to swim to land. The floods are now subsiding. The Hauraki Plains drainage worics, though incomplete, had a good testing, and stood the strain admirably, and kept the water from a large area of dry country. The Thamefc-Paeroa train will run to-morrow, and the Thames-Te Aroha train, which is also interrupted, early next week.
