PERSONAL.
The friends of Mr Norman Chisholm will learn with regret of his death, which took place at Christcburch on Saturday last. The late Mr Chisholm was well known in farming and stock circles, and his quiet, unassuming manner won for him a large circle of friends. He was only 28 years of age. An "ineleside" was held on nesday evening at Mr J. H. Pauling's residence, "Stirling Castle," in honour of the wedding of Miss Gertrude May Pauling to Mr F. P. Thomas, of Whakanui. A large number of guests were entertained in a most hospitable manner by Mr Pauling, and dancing—-to the accompaniment of bagpipe music—and various indoor games were indulged in till a late hour. Duringtfhe evening the South Band payed a surprise visit, and treated the guests to a musical programme on the lawn The kindnes of the band was reciprocated by Mr Pauling making a donation to their funds Various toasts w«;re honoured during the evening, and the kindest wishts expressed for the future welj fare and prosperity of Mr and Mrs Thomas
