SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS CONVENTION.
The tenth Teachers' Convention of the Wellington Sunday School Union opened at Masterton yeste - day. Between seventy and eighty delegates from various Sunday Schools connected with the Union
were present, and more delegates were expected to arrive last evening and this morning. Yesterday's programme, which consisted of devo tional meetings, reading of Conference papera, addresses, question box and tea, was carried out in Knox Church and Sunday Schoolroom. The meetings were very bright and were well attended. At 2.30 p.m. a devotional meeting was held, led by the Rev. Bain Mac* donald, after which Mrs W. Evans, M.A., read an able conference paper on "Home Work," and Mr G. Flux read a very inspiring paper, his subject being "Plain Words to Sunday School teachers. At the tea, which was held in Knox Sunday Schoolroom, about 100 teachers and others ' were present. The Masterton lady | teachers presided at the tea. Then came the question box, the answers being concluded at about 7 30 p.m. A very large gathering assembled in Knox Church, to hear the addresses of welcome to the visitors by Mr James Mcliregor senr. Presbyterian; Mr C. E. Daniell, Methodist; and Mr Chilton, Congregational. No less than 10,637 Sunday School children are indirectly connected with the Union, and 1,049 Sunday School teachers. The Convention will be continued to-day, at 10 30 o clock, in t.be Methodist Sunday School room, when papers will be read, and the general welfare of the Sunday Schools disrws;ed.
