SUNDAY SCHOOL WORKERS.
Easter convention. The Conventioi of Sunday School workers meeting in Masterton' tomorrow, represents some eighty-two■ scbools of the Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational and Baptist* Churches in the Wellington and Marl-" borough districts. A similar meetingwas held in Masterton some six years ago, and last year the Convention met at Palmerston. Papers will be read and speeches.' made by experts of the teaching profession, while open discussion on ! various given topics will be a feature of the meetings, which last through I Friday, Saturday and Sunday, winding up with an open air reunion in ! the Masttrtoii Park on Monday. More than eighty visiting delegates ; from outside the Wainrapa have arranged to 1 b< present Last year's records of the Union show that 1,049 teachers and officers are engaged, with an average attend- ' ance of 910 1 , arid that 10,637 children i are on the school l rolls, with an average attendance of 7,765. Of this latter number, 1,905. are stated to be over fifteen years of age, and .3.826, who are under eight years, : are io the infant classes. The Union holls examinations in Scripture knowledge each year, and the reports show that busy men and women give much lime to the encouragement of the young people's efforts. Some 754 children last year submitted papers. The balance-sheet shows an expenditure of £56 J6s Id, largely, used in prizes and printing. The first meeting of the Convention will beheld at 2.30 p.m. on Friday ir» the Presbyterian Church. The public are invited to all meetings. '■ ■'
