WEDDINGS.
O'BRIEN—TAPLIN
A gcrtet but pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Alnan's Church, Tauaru, by the Rev. H. Watson on Wednesday last, when Mr John Thomas O'Brien was married to Miss Margaret Kyle Taplin, daughter of Mrs J. Taplir., of Taueru. The briae, who was given away by her cousin, Mr Alex. Taplin, wore a pretty Empire frock of cream taffeta, trimmed with net and chiffon, and wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white Michaelmas daisies and asters. The bride was attended I by her cousin, Miss Nellie Taplin, whu wore a pretty semi Empirs frock of cream crepe muslin daintily trimmed with net and silk insertion, and a black picture hat, and carried a bouquet of Michaelmas daisies and pink cosmos. Mr James Floyd was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr B. W. Duffy, brother-in-law of the bride, where about thirty guests were present. The usual toasts were honoured. The young couple were the recipients of numerous and useful presents, testifying to the esteem in which they are held in 'the district. Mr and Mrs O'Brien left by the afternoon train for Wellington, where the honeymoon is to be spent. Tfae bride's tavelling green was a navy blue tailor made cloth. costume and a hat «f saxe blue, trimmed with j a large silk rose of the same shade.
ENTWISTLE—TOWNSEND. A pretty wedding was celebrated at S. Matthew's Church .yesterday, the contracting .parties being Mr William Entwistle, of Pahiatua, son of the late Mr' Henry Entwistle, of Accring<ton, Lanoashrre, and Miss Ella Margaret Townsend, eldest daughter of. Mr G. A. Tow&send, of Masterton. ■■ Tne bride, who was given away by; her father, was daintily attired in a gown of white liberty silk, trimmed; with embroidered chiffon and chantilly lace She carried a lovely shower bouquet of white abulitons,. and wore ithe customary veil>and orange bios snmß. Miss Madge Townsend, sister of the bride, attendedas bridesmaid, and she wore a frock of heliotrope silk eiolene, with ■& draped SKirt, and an amethyst ibeaver hat, with, j gold galon and plume. She also eari ried a horseshoe bouquet of heliotrope ( Michaelmas daisies and ferns Mr C. Fairbrother was best man. Mrs Townsend, mother of ithe bride was dressed |iih 'black chiffon taffetas, trimmed I with heliotrope, and wor« a hat to match.
After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. H. Watson, the bridal party and guests sat down to a dainty wedding breakiast, at the residence of the bride's parents. The usual toasts were duly honoured, andfelicitious speeches made. Mr and Mrs Entwistle Sett by the afternoon.train for the South, en a honeymoon trip. The bride's travel■ling dress was a navy tailor-made •costume, trimmed with heliotrope and blade braid, and a heliotrope triicorue hat.
