To the-Editor. Sir,—l think the report of the j meeting of the Borough Council in Wednesday's Age is sufficient answer to your criticism of my letter on the above subject. "Too late!" is the unanswerable cry. As to my "other rather confident assertions respecting vital points connected with the scheme .... need equal verification," you will find that "verification" in your own paper of the 16th. under the heading "Greytown'News." If you can guage the casts attendant on the vagaries of our own Wairarapa mountain torrents you have excuse for advocating large expenditure on river works. The question has been well considered by Councillors of the County, and they are right in deciding the Waipoua river plenty of scope and freedom. —I am etc., RATEPAYER
