ABDUCTION.
FIGHT BETWEEN POLICE AND POPULACE. SIXTEEN PERSONS KILLED. United Press Association—By Eloctric Telegraph Copyright. Received March 16, 9 a.m. SOFIA. March 15, Stifanoff, a Bulgarian, abducted a Mussulman girl. The courts decided that as she was a minor she must be returned to tier parents. The populace at Rustchuk supported StifanofTs resistance to the decree, and a melee followed. The police killed sixteen, and wounded a hundred parsons—many seriously.
The Minister of the Interior (M. Takek) is widely blamed, as are also the police and military at Rustchuk, for over-zealously and culpably executing the court's order. In the face of the public excitement the garrison was reinforced. King Ferdinand was much upset by the occurrence.
