GREYTOWN NEWS.
(Own Correspondent). Tuesday. One of the heaviest floods that has occurred in the Waiohine river for some time took pl-ice on Monday night, when the river came down like a wall and swept over the stop bank at Ahikouka at about what is
known as "Fuller's Corner. " One of the residents in the vicinity, interviewed, statel that at about halfpast ten p.m. a wall of water swept over the bank and spread from Kelly's corner to the black bridge. The houses of Messrs a. and W. Feast were surrounded; in the paddocks at the back of Mr C. Williams' the fences were raised to the ground for chains. The crops of Messrs Orr and Menkin on the west side of the road were partially covered with silt, as were also the properties around Flaxlands, on the otner side of the river. I also understand that the river has dive-ted its course from the headworks at Wo.idside, causing all the wati r races throughout the district to become dry.
