Received March 15, 9 a.m. SYDNEY, March 15. A meeting in the Broken Hill Town Hall called by a Socialist group to protest against the fostering of the military spirit led to a strong counter demonstration, ending in a free fight, calling for the interference of the police. Ihe voices of the speakers were drowned by the singing of patriotic songs.

Ihe furniture and fittings of the hall suffered considerably during the rough-and tumble.

When order was restored ths counter»demonstra(ors carried a resolution favouring the Defence movement for citizen soldiers.
