Mr A. W.- Hogg, M.P.. returned to Masterton from the South last Saturday evening. The Premier, says a Press Association telegram received yesterday from Napier, arrived in this district last night from the North by motor car, and left this morning for Wairarapa, en route to Wellington. )The many friends of Mr Percy Cole will be pleased to learn that Mrs Cole has so far recovered as to be • abb to leave the private hospital in Paimerston North, where recently she underewent a somewhat serious operation. A Napier Press Association telegram states that Lord Kitchener, in continuation of his private tour of New Zealand, arrived htre yesterday (Saturday) evening by motor car >*< m Auckland via Rotorua and Taupo. He paid a visit to the country to day, Mr W, U, Taylor, Veterinary Surgeon, who has received a Government appointment in Hawke's Bay, left Masterton on Saturday to take up his new position. Mr Taylor will carry * with him tns best wishes ot a large r circle of friends for his future welS fare. His capabilities as a veterinary surgeon, are well-known throughout the Wairarapa, and his departure is a decided <loss to this district. The daath occurred at 8 o'clock Hast evening of Mr George M. Lister, who ha* been a resident of Masterton for many yars Deceased was the son of the late Mr Joseph Lister, of Milton, South Island. For quite a number of years Mr Lister was in the employ of the late Mr J. Henderson, tailor, of Masterton, after which he was associated with Mr Milligan, tailor, at Pahiatua. Latterly the deceased worked for Mr C. S. Ball. He was of a very genial nature, and was n a general favourite among his fel- /> low workers. He had beeen in -f delicate health for some time past, and death was due to heart failure. The funeral will leave his late residence, 58 Perry street, for the Masterton Cemetery, at 10 o'clock, on '.Tuesday morning next.
