(From Our Resident Reporter). Friday. A meeting of the Woodlands Hunt Club is called for on Saturday evening at 8 p.m , in the Commercial Hotel. Notice of motion is given bv the secretary, Mr Arnold Weston, tbat the annual subscription for active members be increased from £1 to £1 10s. I understand that this step is necessary, as the Club finds the upkeep of the kennel a considerable drain on its finances. Lieut. Bolton, of Oete, who is attending the Trentham Rifle Meeting, has succeeded in getting into the final fifty, being fourteenth on the list. Lieut. Bolton has shooting consistently throughout the meeting.
A general meeting of the committee of the Pahiatua Golf Club will be held this evening in Mr Traeey Wills' rooms. The business is ot a general character. Messrs P. E. Debreceny and Co. have received a large consignment of peaches and other stcne fruits from Hawke's Bay for Saturday's sale. The sale commences at 1 p.m. sharp. A sub-committeee has been formed to confer with the Headmaster of the District High School to inspect the lani adjoining the Schoolgrounds, with a view to obtaining a suitable site iror a rifle range. STOCK MARKET. Messrs Abraham and Williams report on their Eketahuna sale follows:—A heavy yarding of sheep, and a small yarding of cattle. The bulk of the entry of cattle not coming forward. The yarding being overtaxed we were forced to receive in the old yards. With the exception of a few lines of aged ewes we managed to quite the whole of our yarding. The prices were quite one shilling lower all round compared with last sale. We quote the following prices Wethers, lis 6d tolls 9d; Ewes, two-tooth, 9s to IBs; culls, 3s to 6s 6d; fat and forward ewes, 9s 7d; sound-mouth ewes, 8s 9d to 9s 2d; lambs, 6s. 2d to Bs. cattle: Fat cows, £4 10s to £4 14s; springing heifers, £3 10s; aged cows to £3; bulls, 30s tp £2.
Messrs Dalgety and Co, Ltd., report on their Eketahuna sale as follows : —Both sheep and cattle, pens were well filled. Sheep sold at auction at prices somewhat lower than last sale, although we quitted the bulk of our yarding before the day closed, vendors in most cases having to accept prices lower than their reserves. Cattle sold well, and prices realised were in advance of last sale. We quote: —Two tooth ewes, fair, lis Od to 12s 8d; f.m. ewes, fis to 9s 6d; on account J. P. Lomax, a line of f.m. ewes at 8s 2d wethers, 2 and 4 tooth from 9s 6d to 12s. lambs, woolly from 6s lOd to 7s 7d shorn
lamb?, 5s 6d to 6s 3d empty forward cows, £3 to £3 15s; 2 to 2£yr steers, £4 10s to £4 lis 6d; weaners, 25s to 30s: bulls, £2 to £2 15s: cows and calves, £2 15s to £3 ss. .
