BOXING.

INSTRUCTOR FUR MASIERTON.

The Committee of the Masterton Boxing Clab hab been busy during the last week testing prospective instructors for the local Club, and after exhibitions by these candidates, Mr F. Maloney has been finally selected. The Club is to be congratulated upon having secured the services of so clever an exponent of the "noble art," and those privileged to witness his sparring with Mr W. Wenaud, Australasian Bantam Champion, speak very highly of his clever hitting, stopping and footwork. Mr Maloney has won the Light and Middleweight Championships of the West Coast and wps instructor to one of the largest gymnasiums in ! Wellington, and besides being a ! speciality in boxing, he is probably one of the cleverest exponents of ball-punching in New Zealand. Mr Maloney, also gave a very smart exhibition of wrestling, introducing the latest holds and counters. With so capable an instructor at the head of things, the public of Masterton may look forward to some excellent sport during the winter months, and it now lies with the active members themselves to guarantee by their efforts, a successful season. It is understood that that keen sportsman, Mr Rupert Morrison, has engaged Mr Wenand, for the Te Nui and East Coast Club.
