PAHIATUA NEWS.

(From Our Resident Reporter). Thursday. The caretaker of the local bowling green is to be congratulated on the splendid appearance of the green at the present time. Play on the green this season has been of a very high order., and members 'are very keen on the result of the competition for the President's trophy. Shaw, the winner of the B class, has to play oft' with the winner of A class, which rests betwten Walsh ana Hughes. The partnership in the firm of Donald and Eastwood, cycle engineers, has been dissolved by mutual consent. In the future the firm will be carried on under the name of R. and A. Donald. Mr E. Gallichan, Organising Secretary of the Liberal and Labour Federation, visited this town yesterday on business connected with his Association. A meeting of the executive of the Pahiatua Central Branch of the Farmers' Union is to be held in the Secretary's office on Saturday next, to make arrangements for instruction in wool classing in this centre. A meeting ot the Hospital Trustees takes place in the Borough Council Chambers this afternoon. This is the last meeting of this body. In tuture the institution will be governed by the Wairarapa Hos- , pital Board.

A wedding of considerable Interest took place at the residence of the bride's parents, when Miss E. Ross, eldest daughter of Mr A. Ross, of Te Aupapa, Kaitawa, was joined in the bonds of matrimony to Mr A. E. Gosnell manager of the Tuscan Hills Estate. The ceremony took place at 8 a.m., the, officiating clergyman being the Rev. Chalmers

Mills. During tho evening Mr Ross entertained a large number of guests in the Kaitawa Hall. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion. The floor was in splendid order, and dancing was kept up until 2 a.m. to the music of Bluett's String Bc.nd. Mr William Thomas, a highly respected resident of Makomako, died suddenly yesterday afternoon. The cause of death was heart failure.
