The Sub-Committee of the House of Representatives eet up to go into the question of to whom the honour of discovering the North Pole belongs decided against honoring commander Peary until he submits his proof. A number of members questioned the accuracy of his statement that his marehes averaged twenty-six miles a day after leaving Captain Bartlett in the Roosevelt, whereas the greatest speed before or after was nine miles daily.
