JUST IN TIME.

TRAIN ON EDGE OF A CHASM. Received March 10, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE. March 10. A thrilling escape from disaster is reported. A passenger train travelling at night between the Clifton Hill and Merri Stations had just lett the former station and was approaching an iron bridge, without a coping, which spans a chasm fifty feet deep. The driver felt a thump and stopped the train. It was then found that the leading wheels of the engine had left the rails, and were within eighteen inches of the edge of the bridge when the train stopped.
