A FINANCIER MORTIFIED
THE ANTI-JAPANESE SENTIMENT. Received March 8, 9 a.m. NEW YORK, March 7.\ Mr Jacob Schiff, the financier, speaking at the New York Republican CI üb, said:—"There is an understanding that Russia, Japan and Great Britain will constitute during the next few decades the world's greatest menace. I was greatly mortified to lesrn that Japan had joined hands with Ru3sia to keep China in a state of vassalage. Perfidious Albion'is party to that compact." Mr Schiff was prominent in financing Japan, during the Russo-Japan-ese War, ani was decorated by the Mikado for his services. LONDON, March 7. The "Times" Washington correspondent, commentiiig on the speech, says:—"The existence of the antiJapanese sentiment is an important factor in American international relations."
