A DIFFICULTY. Received March 8, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, March 7. The financial journal Eitnomist says:—"lt is evident that the Admiralty is convinced of the superiority of oil fuel for certain purposes. The difficulty is the necessity of depending upon foreign sources. The British Empire produces 8 per cent, of the world's petroleum, Burmah, India, Borneo, Canada, Trinidad, and Barbadoes are all capable of immense future yit Ids, and in Australia and New Zealand, if accounts are true, there is enough oil to keep Great Britain fully supplied. Australasia is too far away to be an efficient saurce of supply for British .nJustrial purposes. It is absolutely necessary to be able to replenish storage tanks from sources under our own control."
