REV. A. T. THOMPSONS' farewell.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. There were crowded congregatior.s at the morning and evening services at Knox Church yesterday, when the Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., 8.D., preached his farewell sermons prior to leaving for an extended trip to the Old Country. The annual Sunday School anniversary services were, also, heid, and in the afternoon the prizes were awarded by the Rev. Mr Thompson, assisted by the Riv. Mr McDonald, to the children, who had won them during the past year. The prizes were for proficiency, good conduct and good attendance. Special hymns appropriate to the occasion were rendered by the Sunday School children, the singing being remarkably good. In the morning, the Rev. Mr Thompson gave an address to the children, taking for his text from John 6 chap., 8 ver., "There is a lad here," and also spoke to the adult members of the congregation on the ! importance of bringing up their children in a righteous manner, basing his remarks from Proverbs 22 chap. 6 ver., "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart therefrom " At the evening service the reverend'gentleman gave a review of his Ministerial tenure in Masterton, briefly outlining the progress of the Church during the past few years. The services were very bright and ! hearty. Special hymns were sung at ! both morning and evening services, "God be with you till we meet again," being rendered at the conclusion of the latter service.

AT THE Y.M.C.A. The Rev. A. T. Thompson delivered a farawell address at the Y.M.C.A. yesterday afternoon, the reading room of the hall being filled with members and friends. The Rev. Thompson, who wMI represent the Maslerton and other New Zealand Y.M.C A.'s at the British Conference of Y M.C.A.'s in Liverpool, said he hoped to bring back to New Zealand some valuable information concerning the working of the Y.M.C.A. in England. At the Strangers' tea, held after the above address, the attendance was considerably larger than that of previous Sundays. When bidding farewell to those assembled, the Rev. Thompson'said he hoped, on his return, to see a two-storey structure erected in the place of the present builidng.
