TRAIN HURLED A DISTANCE OF 200 FEET.

In connection with the avalanche that swept the slope of the Cascade Mountain, Everett, in Washington State, and buried to express trains under the snow, it transpires that the trains were snowbound for seven days. The avalanche hurled them a distance of 200 feet, and buried them at the bottom of a canyon. Sixty*persons are reported to have perished. A MILE LONG. NEW YORK, March 3. The avalanche, which was a mile long, devastated a portion of the town of Wellington, Washington State. The, telegraphjlines'were destroyed for fifteen miles round. An escaped passenger brought the first newSjto Snohomish. Several of the£[passengers saved themselves by sheltering in the hotel instead of remaining jm the train. gNurses and doctors were sent by train but were unable to get within fifteen miles of Wellington, which is covered deep in snow. There is little likelihood of further rescues. The trains-* are buried under forty feet of snow and rock debris, and weeks will be required to dig them oat.
